
The Pasco Invitational welcomes one of the greatest all-around female high school athletes to ever come out of the state of Washington. Prosser’s Kelly-Blair-LaBounty won 10 Washington State track & field titles in addition to being the 1989 U.S. Junior Heptathlon champion. During her illustrious high school career, she competed in volleyball and basketball leading her high school team to the 1989 state basketball title and being named the tournament MVP. In addition, she was the 1989 Prosser High School Valedictorian. Following high school, she moved on to the University of Oregon to compete in both basketball (2 years) and track (4 years). As a collegian for the Ducks, she was a 3-time All American winning the NCAA Heptathlon title as a junior in 1993 and was the runner-up as a senior in 1994. In the Pac-10, she won conference championships in 1993 and 1994 in the Heptathlon and in 1994 in the Long Jump while also being named the Pac-10 Women’s Track and Field Athlete of the Year in 1993.
Kelly is ranked in the University of Oregon top 10 all-time lists in 5 track events: Heptathlon, 400 Hurdles, 100 Hurdles, High Jump and Long Jump. She finished her career as an NCAA top eight award winner, NCAA post-graduate scholarship recipient, 2-time national first team Academic All-American, 3-time Pac-10 All-Academic team member, and a 2-year letterwinner in basketball. She was a 1993 World University Games Bronze medalist in the Heptathlon.
Her post-college career found her completing some amazing achievements. She is a 2-time Olympian representing the U.S. in the 1996 Atlanta and the 2000 Sydney Olympics. In 1996, she was the Olympic trials champion in the Heptathlon and finished 8th in the Atlanta games. In the Heptathlon, she was the 1997 and 1998 U.S. champion, 10th in the 1995 & 1997 World Championships, Bronze medalist in the 1998 Goodwill Games and ranked in the Heptathlon top 10 in the world in 1996 (10th), 1997 (9th) and 1998 (7th).
While her achievements on the court and in track and field are astounding, she continues to give back to the sport by coaching first at Seattle Pacific and then the University of Oregon. She has coached 2 Seattle Pacific multi-event athletes to NCAA Division II Titles, 5 University of Oregon All-Americans (multi-event and Javelin) and Lane Community College (18 All-Americans). She currently coaches the sprints/hurdles/multi-events athletes at Lane Community College. Kelly has coached 25 All-Americans in multiple events and while serving as an assist coach at Oregon is the only coach in the university’s track & field history to coach both the #1 ranked Heptathlete and #1 ranked Decathlete.
Kelly is a member of the University of Oregon Athletics Hall of Fame, Oregon Sports Hall of Fame, state of Washington High School Fall of Fame, Central Washington Hall of Fame.
Kelly currently resides in Springfield, Oregon with her husband Matt (former NFL player with the Seahawks and Packers) and their two sons, Jacob and Lucas.
